10 years ago I began photographing coastal locations with my new partner. It became a project where we would pick a location, wait for a beautiful day and then upon arriving we'd go off in different directions. The idea was to photograph what each of us saw as interesting - be it a texture, the way the light danced on something, an object, an angle- anything! It was a chance to play. No one judging, correcting, or influencing my thinking. It was photography for me.
We would spend anything from an hour to 2 simply being, in a beautiful environment and afterwards I realised how meditative it was. The day felt light, my creative bucket was filled and I had a full appreciation for the surroundings I had been in for the time. Not to mention the fresh air, connecting with nature and all that! I have to tell you, it actually wasn't easy, I felt uncomfortable with this feeling. I was so used to trying to get it right (like for my photography clients). But over time I realised I had tapped into something. A beautiful feeling. And so now I want to share the same opportunity with you.
Living the slow life. Grateful for the unexpected. Every day is a blessing.
