What is Focus & Flow?

In 2014 I began a tradition of visiting beautiful locations with my partner  where we each set off to capture elements of the area with our cameras.

Each of us taking in the simple beauty that lay before us, searching for things that took our eye – patterns, textures, a leaf, seaweed, rocks, playing with the light, watching waves and waiting for nature movement. It was in these special moments we were ‘in a state of flow’. A meditative moment that was relaxing, calming and totally comfortable.

You’re invited to join me in the online Focus and Flow photography course where over the course of 3 months where we explore moments  to engage in creative exploration using photography. This project is designed to inspire you and offers monthly creative prompts and encouragement as you capture moments that promote presence, stillness and mindfulness.

Flow is a state of mind that occurs when a person is totally immersed in an activity...When in a flow state, people pay no attention to distractions and time seems to pass without any notice.*

About

Hi there, I’m Carly and have been a professional photographer since 2004. I created this course as a way to share the love for photography but more importantly as a support for mental health. You don’t have to be a professional to join in the fun! Just have a joy for visual inspiration, an open mind and to like nature.

There are so many pressures on us, constantly in todays world. Personally,  I have struggled at times to find the joy on some days. Thus I felt that it was time to share a way that has given me hope. A way that has made me feel content through being creative. It gives a reason to get out the door, focus my attention on something else (even if for just a moment) & to look for the beautiful things- whether it is in moments, inspiring objects, textures, or other ways nature displays herself.

“To be inspired, is to feel there is hope after all.”

I hope this course brings you the same hope and joy it has for me in all these years.
