We’ve been studying Europe this year and I wanted a hands-on method for the boys to study the geography, countries, flags, waterways of Europe. I have always loved the Montessori Pin it maps. However, most Montessori materials are expensive and not very affordable.
I was delighted to find a more affordable source in the way of Pin It Maps. The Europe Map Set was $36.50 and it arrived within a week.
What is included in the Pin It Maps?
It included 1 big map that shows all the biomes and 2 other double sided small maps that focus on Europe flags, countries, cities and landforms & waterways.
The maps are beautifully done, comes with a Styrofoam backing (big one) and plastic corners. The pin flags come in different colors for different types. For example; countries are in green, cities are in red, landforms are in yellow etc. The flags are labeled on the back as well.
What makes the Pin-It Maps affordable?
The map set comes unassembled with tape and labels for the flags. The pins have to be ordered separately (I bought mine from Amazon). Then you’ve to assemble the pins and the labels to create the flags. I worked on it for about an hour over the course of 3-4 days. The extra work is what makes the whole kit affordable. I don’t mind doing some of the work if I can get an excellent quality set for a great price.
My 6-year-old, Geography buff loved learning about all the different cities, countries and flags. We just finished our unit on landforms and the map was very beneficial in locating European landforms. This is a great resource for students (and adults) of all ages and can be used for many years.
