My boys enjoy the playful and whimsical book called, Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert. On each page, leaves take on the shapes of different animals and objects. We were introduced to the book last year when we did our seasonal unit study. We revisited the book during one of our library trips. This time the boys wanted to recreate a leaf craft like the ones in the book. So after we gathered different sorts of leaves, they went to work. Here are some of their Leaf Man inspired animals (T-Rex, fish, bird, and butterfly).
So off we went on a nature walk to collect our supplies. After we gathered different sorts of leaves, nuts, and berries, they went to work. They couldn’t wait until the morning. The art took them a little while and they had to look back in the book for some inspiration. After much trial, error, and teamwork, they were able to create some good ones. A T-Rex, fish, bird, and butterfly were created!
